- Owsley County Superintendent chosen to serve on national Action for Healthy Kids school wellness expert panel.
- Hazard Perry County Senior Center adds a wellness program.
- Pathfinders of Perry County formed a citizen committee to create and promote recreational walking, hiking, and biking opportunities in Hazard and Perry County.
- Nicholasville/Jessamine County Parks & Recreation tossed out the junk food in their concession stands and filled it with healthy food and still made a profit!
- This year 21 counties held a Longest Day of Play with almost 8000 people in attendance. Each community promoted different types of physical activity opportunities that were available in their community.
- Community Farm Alliance and Urban Fresh bring fresh, healthy, local foods to West Louisville.
- A Coordinated Approach to Physical Activity Program (CATCH) is a non-traditional physical education method to increase physical activity levels in school children. A public-private partnership between the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Service and Yum! Brands funded an after-school nutrition and physical pilot project.
